Hiya! My name’s Annest, and if you already know me, you’ll know that I’m pregnant with my first child – a son! – who’s due in April.
I’ve decided to start writing a little blog during my pregnancy and into the world of motherhood. Why? …I’m not too sure to be honest! I’d probably say that the main reason is to document my experiences in order for me to be able to look back at it in years to come, and to hopefully help mamas to be/first time mamas feel more comfortable in the changes that come with motherhood. As you can see from the name of the blog, I will NOT be a mam who acts glamorous 24/7 with a full face of makeup and hair all done up (the main reason being, I’m struggling to see where I’ll have the time to go for a shower, let alone find time to put some slap on my face!) but instead, I’ll be showing an uncensored side of pregnancy and motherhood.. and believe me, there are some elements I had NO idea about before I fell pregnant!
As this is an introduction to my blog, I should say a few things about myself. As I’ve already mentioned, my name is Annest, I’m 23 years old and I’m currently 31 weeks pregnant with a baby boy. I am engaged to my partner of six years, Danny, and we are getting married in June next year. The thought of having our mischievous little boy running around on our wedding day just makes my heart melt, and neither I nor Danny can wait to meet our precious little one and to be able to show him just how loved he is. We’ve also got 2 little Border Terriers called Celyn and Mali who are the light of our lives and they make every single day worthwhile.
Do you remember when you were younger, and people used to ask you what you wanted to be when you grew up? Maybe you said a popstar, or a football player, or maybe even an astronaut! Well, my answer was always the same – I wanted to be a mam (I also remember wanting to work at Tesco because I thought that the till scanning seemed like such a cool job, but for the sake of this blog we’ll brush over this haha!). Maybe the reason for this was because I was brought up by the most loving parents which has always made me want to give my own children the same love someday.
I’ve got to say, the circumstances of my pregnancy journey hasn’t been at all what I envisioned over the years (I think we all know why, bloody covid!!) but up to now, I’ve absolutely loved the whole pregnancy (minus a few wobbles along the way thanks to sickness). Have I missed out on a lot of things that expectant first time mothers would experience, like shopping for baby stuff with my own mam, or having a gender reveal party, or just being able to experience pregnancy with my best mates face to face? I have. Although this, the journey into motherhood is a journey incomparable to anything else, and I can’t wait to share it all with you!
I won’t keep you any longer as it’s only my first post, but I really hope that you enjoyed my little introduction into the life-changing journey that lies ahead, and I’m looking forward to share a lot more in the near future.
Lots of love,
